Charlene, an Australian tourist, finally arrives in the land of beets, herring and dill, or more simply put, Russia. If time and money were no object, she'd explore Mount Elbrus, the Valley of Geysers and even Kizhi Island. She'd take in a show at one of the Imperial theatres or buy something glamourous from GUM Department Store. Instead, Charlene settles on the more usual touristy sights of Moscow's Kremlin and Saint Basil's Cathedral.
I'll have a blast photographing onion-domed churches, boating along the Moskva River, and searching for Pushkin's family home, she thinks, but it never takes place. Her vacation tips upside down when her fellow traveler, Kim, disappears without signs of a scuffle or a fight. Through a series of events, Charlene becomes acquainted with an interpreter by the name of Roman Sharapov. Roman attempts to shield Charlene from Kim's abductors; however, they become separated, but not before falling in love.
Will Charlene and Roman find each other again, and if they do, can they make their hopeless love amount to more than just a holiday romance when they live so far away from each other?
